Parole approved
A former Dudley resident, sentenced to 35 years for second-degree murder, has been paroled from state prison. Wade Boseman, 40, has been granted a parole by the state Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission.
Boseman was charged with first-degree murder on Jan. 9, 1993, and he pleaded guilty Aug. 30, 1993, in Wayne County Superior Court to second-degree murder.
The commission considers paroles for those convicted of crimes before Oct. 1, 1994. Those convicted after that date are not eligible for parole, because the state's current sentencing law has eliminated that form of release.
16 charges
A 28-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police and charged with 16 felony counts of forgery.
Cynthia Lynn Mitchell of Wayne Memorial Drive, Pikeville, was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $40,000 secured bond.
Drug charges
Two Goldsboro men were arrested by Goldsboro police and charged with felony drug offenses.
*Kenneth Dixon, 28, who did not disclose a home address, was charged today with possession of cocaine at A and Florida streets. He also was held on an outstanding arrest order for failure to pay child support. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of two secured bonds totaling $5,500.
*Montrel Demontrio Allen, 29, of North Georgia Avenue was charged Wednesday with possession of cocaine on Astor Court. He also was held on an outstanding arrest order for possession of marijuana. He was jailed in lieu of a $5,600 secured bond.
Driver injured
A driver was injured in a two-car collision at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday at Emmaus Church and Sleepy Creek roads, the Highway Patrol said. Angelia F. Burris, 24, of Indian Springs Road, Mount Olive, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The other driver, Maria E. Castaneda, 32, of Greenfield Cemetery Road, Seven Springs, was charged with a yield violation. Troopers said Ms. Castaneda stopped at the stop sign and then started across the intersection but the eastbound car that she was driving collided with the southbound auto that Ms. Burris was operating. Damages were put at $4,300.
Water pipes stolen
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*When a woman returned home Wednesday, she discovered that her water pipes had been stolen, police said. Shaleta D. Carter of East Spruce Street had been gone since Nov. 1. The pipes were valued at $300.
*A thief came through the garage roof to get inside a home in the 1000 block of Berry Street and then stole $300, police said. The resident, Rowland Robinson Sr., said the larceny took place between Sunday and Wednesday.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A 20-horsepower lawn mower with a 32-inch cut was stolen between Dec. 30 and Wednesday from the 2500 block of Old Smithfield Road, sheriff's deputies said. The mower, owned by Kleening Kapers of Gloucester Point, Va., was valued at $6,000.
*A 1996 Honda four-wheeler was stolen between June 3 and Thursday from the 900 block of Hinnant Road, deputies said. The resident and owner, Joseph Nelson Pate, put a $4,285 value on it.
*A cement mixer was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from a construction site in the 3000 block of N.C. 222 West, deputies said. The mixer, owned by Smith Masonry of Fremont, was worth $2,500. A wheelbarrow, stolen at the same time, was recovered.
