The victim, Bill Kearney, was taken by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where we kept overnight. He was to be released today, a spokeswoman said.

The other man, Michael Douglas Wiley, 52, of Marshall Drive, Dudley, was arrested by police at the motel. He was charged with a felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.
