Dillard weekend planned

The 49th annual Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni homecoming celebration will begin on Thursday and continue through Sunday with dozens of activities throughout the Memorial Day weekend.
Hundreds of alumni of Dillard and Goldsboro high schools return each year to celebrate.
Activities begin Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Goldsboro High School Auditorium when about $27,000 in scholarships will be given to Wayne County students at the annual Scholarships and Awards Program.
During the weekend, community citizens will be honored and a king or queen with be crowned.
This year's theme is "Celebrating 49 Years of Service While Stepping into the Golden Anniversary."
Many individual classes will be celebrating especially the 4's and the 9's.
The festivities will include dining, dancing, a parade, fashion show, picnics, golf tournaments, competitive games, boat rides, banquets, luncheons, breakfasts and worship services.
Ms. Ann Tatum, long-time Philadelphia Chapter president, will be honored at the alumni banquet at 4 p.m. Friday at the Alumni Cultural Center.
The election of the national president will take place on Saturday.
The annual alumni parade will beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday with lineup starting at 8 a.m. at Dillard Middle School.
A golf tournament will be held at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday. The Class of 1979 will also hold a golf tournament beginning at noon Saturday at Walnut Creek Country Club.
The alumni dance will be held beginning at 9:30 p.m. Friday at H.V. Brown Hall featuring the Midnight Movers band.
