Goldsboro Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred around 9:30 this morning at New Century Bank at Spence Avenue and Cashwell Drive.
The bank was immediately closed to customers while police interviewed employees and viewed tapes taken by bank cameras.
Sgt. Tony Carmon of the police department described the suspect as a 5-foot-6 medium-brown-skinned black man in his mid-to-late-20s with a multi-colored baseball cap. He wore a dark short-sleeved shirt and bluejeans.
He said an undisclosed amount of money was taken. No injuries were reported and the robber was not armed.
Police canvassed businesses and residents in the vicinity, seeking witnesses to anything suspicious during the time frame of the robbery.
The bank has only been open for a few months and is the only local location. Carmon said it was expected to be closed for two hours during the investigation.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Investigator Dwayne Dean at 580-4211 or Investigator Paul Van Wijk at 580-4203.
