Break-ins cleared
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says it has cleared several residential break-ins in the southern part of the county with the arrest of a teen-ager.
William Allen Jackson Jr., 17, of O'Berry Road, Mount Olive, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. His secured bond was set at $25,000.
Jackson was accused of breaking into a home on Nancy Drive at Mar Mac and stealing three firearms and other items, Detective Sgts. Ray Brogden and Rick Farfour said.
Jackson also had been charged with an April 30 break-in on Corbett Hill Road, where 11 firearms and collectible currency were stolen.
Jackson has been charged by sheriff's officers and Mount Olive police with 13 offenses, including two other felony counts of breaking and entering and numerous misdemeanors. His secured bonds total $89,800.
More charges are pending, Sheriff's Capt. George Raecher said today.
Collisions
A wife pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake at about 11:45 a.m. Monday and her car crashed into her husband's parked car and damaged their home on Forehand Road, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Jocelyn S. Macklin, the driver, was neither injured nor charged. But her car sustained about $2,000 in damages. The other car, registered to Albert F. Macklin, had about $6,000 in damages. Damage was estimated at $10,000 to their home.
In other collisions:
*Four people were injured in a one-car wreck at 12:44 a.m. Saturday on N.C. 581 near Memorial Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Linder Hamilton Dixon, 53, of Derby, Conn., and three passengers, Anthony Dixon, 23, of New Haven, Conn., and Esperanza Harris, 37, and Linda Harris, 4, both of West Haven, Conn., were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Linder Dixon was charged with driving left of center after the car ran off the right side, came back across the road out of control, ran off the left side and struck a ditch. Damage was set at $4,500.
*A car was demolished in a wreck at 5:42 p.m. Saturday on Old Smithfield Road near Ferry Bridge Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Jesus Guevara Mendoza, 19, of Princeton Road, Princeton, was not injured, but he was charged with driving while impaired. The car ran off the left side and struck a ditch and a culvert, troopers said. The car was valued at $6,500. Damage to the culvert was estimated at $500.
School vandalized
SEVEN SPRINGS -- Vandals broke into Spring Creek High School between Friday night and Monday and inflicted more than $640 in damages, a Wayne County sheriff's report said.
The vandals smashed the glass in an exterior door, damaged a ceiling camera, then broke the glass in doors to two offices, deputies said.
The vandals also entered the library and damaged several computers, deputies said. The amount of damage to the computers was not immediately known. Nothing has been reported stolen, the report said.
Teen assaulted
A 16-year-old Goldsboro boy was assaulted before dawn today by several men near West Ash Street and Georgia Avenue, a Goldsboro police report said.
Shawnquel Camorra Futrell told police that the men were sitting in an old truck at about 3 a.m. and one asked Futrell who he was. Futrell then asked him who he was, and Futrell was tackled by another man and cut on his hand, leg and knee, police said. The men fled.
Futrell was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was released after emergency-room treatment.
Marijuana seized
Wayne County sheriff's officers seized 45 marijuana plants in woods off U.S. 70 East, a report issued today said.
The plants, if grown to maturity, would have a street value of about $108,000, officers said.
The sheriff's Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team and A-shift patrol officers assisted in the investigation. The owners of the plants, found off U.S. East, have not been determined.
Break-in charge
A 33-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Monday night by Goldsboro police and charged with four misdemeanor offenses in connection with a break-in.
Jackie Franklin Sutton of North Berkeley Boulevard was charged with breaking and entering, larceny, unauthorized use of a vehicle and first-degree trespass. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $2,000 secured bond.
Sutton was accused of breaking into a building in the 4000 block of McLain Street, Investigator Dale Foster said.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A set of Calloway golf woods and irons, a Ping putter, a golf bag, golf balls, gloves and shoes were stolen between May 10 and Monday from a garage in the 100 block of Veranda Place. The resident, Jeff Hill, put a $2,352 value on his property. Goldsboro police took the report and referred it to the Sheriff's Office.
*Ten propane gas tanks were stolen before dawn today after a fence was damaged at the Handy Mart convenience store at 2011 U.S. 70 West, sheriff's deputies said. The tanks were valued at $342.50, and damage was put at $200.
*A citizens band radio was stolen between Friday and Monday after a truck window was smashed at N.C. 111 North and Stoney Creek Church Road, deputies said. The owner, Edgar Maurice Rose of Goldsboro, put a $110 value on his radio and set damage at $400.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating two break-in reports:
*A Kinetic Milano scooter was stolen early Monday from a service station at North George and West Grantham streets, police said. The owner, Darryl Andrew Starling of Goldsboro, said he left the key in the scooter, went in the store and returned to see someone driving it away. The scooter was worth $1,750.
*A stereo and compact disc player combination and stereo equipment were stolen between Thursday and Saturday after a car window and trunk lock were damaged in the 300 block of Level Street, police said. The owner. Tiffiney Shay Weeks of Snow Hill, estimated the property's value at $298 and damage at $250.
*Video-game equipment, 20 DVDs and 30 compact discs were stolen Saturday after a window was damaged at an apartment in the 1500 block of Courtyard Circle, police said. The resident, T.M. Mosley, estimated the property's value at $950 and damage at $10.
Tire theft
A Dudley teen-ager has been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with the theft of tires and rims from a Goldsboro auto dealer.
Jeannie Marie Johnston, 18, of Holloman Lane was charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
Ms. Johnston was accused of stealing the property from Deacon Jones Kia, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said. The tires and rims, valued at $1,400, was recovered.
Correction
Larry Davis, who was listed Sunday in District Court records, was convicted of assault on a female, not communicating threats. The latter charge was dismissed. Davis, 43, of Denton Place, was sentenced to unsupervised probation and fined $100.
Missing
A 14-year-old Goldsboro girl was reported missing Sunday night by relatives to Goldsboro police. Taneisha Nicole Bryant of 403 Fussell St. was described as black, 5-feet and 126 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a light complexion.
When she was seen last at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, she was wearing a white shirt, a green and black skirt, black shoes and a hat. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call police at 736-4933.
