Wayne County Register of Deeds John Chance has formed an advisory committee to give feedback on his office's operations.
Many county agencies operate with some type of oversight board, Chance said Tuesday before the county commissioners. The Sheriff's Office has had an advisory committee for several years, he added.
The new committee includes people who regularly use the deeds office. It will meet quarterly to review office operations and offer suggestions to improve efficiency and service.
Initial committee members are lawyers Charlie Gaylor and Joyce Keller, paralegal Robin Radford, surveyor Bobby Rex Kornegay, ministers the Rev. Glenn Phillips and Bishop Alton Smith, funeral directors J.B. Rhodes and Ben Strickland, and at-large members Pete Barnett and Mary Johnstone.
