Cherry Hospital received a clean bill of health from national hospital surveyors after a three-day inspection.
According to Cherry Hospital Director Jerry Edwards, the hospital has achieved full re-accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
The survey team reviewed the hospital's medical practices, labs, patient care, records and staffing patterns as well as life and building safety, and security. More than 530 different standards were reviewed April 5 through 7.
"We're proud of the survey results the hospital achieved, as it is the first state psychiatric hospital to be surveyed under the new survey methodology of the joint commission, called tracer methodology," said Edwards. "The methodology involves surveyors following the specific course of patients from admission through discharge as well as tracing system processes. This method places great emphasis on patient care, service delivery and outcome, as well as patient safety."
