WKIX-FM gets new manager
Curtis Media Group announced Wednesday the appointment of Sam Hassell as general manager of WKIX-FM radio station in Goldsboro.
He assumes the duties from Tony Denton, who will remain with the company as general manager of WGBR and WFMC stations.
Hassell was a partner at TRW Advertising in New Bern. Prior to that, he was general sales manager for WERO-FM in the Greenville-New Bern area.
"Sam Hassell rounds out our management team in Goldsboro," said Phil Zachary, Curtis Media executive vice president.
Faison swears in new clerk
FAISON -- The new Faison town clerk, Christian Higgins, took the oath of office Wednesday.
She is replacing Jean Holmes, who resigned in March for health reasons.
Town Commissioner Jane Hollingsworth said Ms. Higgins and Ms. Holmes were "a wonderful team," and Ms. Holmes highly recommended Ms. Higgins.
Ms. Holmes has offered to come in from time to time as a consultant.
Orientation for prospective nurses set
KENANSVILLE -- The James Sprunt Community College Nursing Department will hold an orientation session for prospective nursing students at noon and again at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Monk Auditorium on campus.
The program is for those interested in entering either the associate degree nursing or practical nurse programs.
The orientation session is designed to answer questions about the admissions process. Topics will include admission, scholarships, financial aid and placement tests. Deadline for applications for the 2005-06 school year is Dec. 15.
"We hope this will help offset some of the confusion some have about the admissions process," said Rhonda Ferrell, nursing department head.
