World War II
re-enactment
The Wayne County Museum is hosting a re-enactment called, "The American and German Soldiers during World War II."
The goal is to take attendees back in time to experience the war through the eyes of the soldiers. There will be re-enactors and authentic vehicles on display during the event.
The free event will be on Saturday, April 17, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The museum is at 116 N. William St. in Goldsboro beside the post office. For more information, call Catherine Belmonte, museum manager, at 734-5023. The museum's hours are from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Gospel celebration
The public is invited to "A Gospel Celebration" provided by the Student Activities Department at Wayne Community College.
The free event begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, in Moffatt Auditorium on campus.
Some of the groups that will perform are The Lord's Table of Goldsboro, Potter's Clay of Mount Olive, the Spirit Rain Youth Choir of Goldsboro and LaGrange, and the Jackson Family of Parkstown. Other area Christian artists have been invited.

Teach adults to read
The Wayne Community College Literacy and Basic Skills Program needs volunteers to tutor adults in reading.
The program will hold free training to certify volunteers as tutors. Training will be done in four sessions set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on April 19, 21, 26 and 28 in Room 141 of the Holly Building at Wayne Community College.
