A 36-year-old woman from Goldsboro was killed Monday night in a collision at Pikes Crossroads, the intersection of N.C. 581 and Pikeville-Princeton Road, the Highway Patrol reported.
The victim was identified as Antonia Venise Procter of 501 S. Harding Drive.
Ms. Procter's son, Ryan Goins, 9, of South Harding Drive, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. He was listed today in critical condition, a spokeswoman said.
The other driver, Gregory Allen Carr, 42, of Baker Chapel Church Road, Mount Olive, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Trooper Robert Thaxton said Ms. Procter was going west on Pikeville-Princeton Road, failed to stop at the stop sign, and her car was struck in the right passenger door by Carr's pickup truck.
No charges were filed. The collision remains under investigation.
Both vehicles were demolished. Ms. Procter was driving a 1996 Infiniti. Carr was driving a 2002 Ford, registered to Jackson Builders of Goldsboro.
