The Wayne County Democratic Party will hold its presidential preference caucus at the county courthouse Saturday, April 17, even though John Kerry has locked up the nomination.
The statewide caucus is being held because the primary elections were delayed until July this year. The results will also tell the Democratic Party how to divide its delegates to the Democratic National Convention this summer.
Anyone who is registered as a Democrat, as of April 9, may come to the courthouse at the corner of Walnut and William streets between 8 a.m. and noon and vote for one of the Democratic candidates for president.
People who are unable to attend due to sickness, physical disability or religious reasons may vote by mail. A request for an absentee form, written entirely and signed by the requestor, should be mailed by April 9 to N.C. Democratic Party, Absentee Caucus Request, 220 Hillsborough St., Raleigh.
