Donald Fabrao
Navy Seaman Recruit Donald A. Fabrao, son of Donna L. Fabrao of La Grange, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at the Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Fabrao completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire fighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
Fabrao is a 2003 graduate of South Lenoir High School of Deep Run, N. C.
Anthony Sexstella
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Anthony M. Sexstella, son of Air Force Master Sgt. and Mrs. John A. Sexstella of Goldsboro, recently returned from a routine, scheduled deployment while assigned to the guided missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea, homeported in Mayport, Fla.
Sexstella is one of more than 6, 500 Sailors and Marines aboard the ships of the USS Enterprise Carrier Strike Group who deployed in support of America's ongoing operations in the war on terrorism. During the deployment Sexstella's unit spent most of its time in the Arabian Gulf region. The strike group's 80-plane air wing flew more than 19, 000 flight hours, conducted 8, 000 sorties and seven precision bombing strikes over Iraq.
Joseph Teachey
Marine Corps Master Sgt. Joseph L. Teachey, son of Arnelia J. Teachey of Dudley, and his fellow shipmates recently returned from a routine scheduled deployment while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu, homeported in San Diego, Calif.
During the deployment, Teachey's unit conducted humanitarian assistance and security and stabilization missions in Iraq. They also patrolled international waters in the Red Sea and Horn of Africa to deter the transport of terrorist personnel and equipment.
Teachey is a 1981 graduate of Southern Wayne High School.
Carlos Jones
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Carlos A. Jones Jr., a 2002 graduate of North Lenoir High School, LaGrange, recently reported for duty with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 26, Marine Air Group 26, Marine Corps Air Station, Jacksonville.
Johnny King Jr.
Marine Corps Reserve Pvt. Johnny W. King Jr., son of Sylvia Holmes of Goldsboro and Johnnie L. King of Goldsboro, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
King is a 2003 graduate of Goldsboro High School of Goldsboro, N. C.
Juanita Loftin
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Juanita A. Loftin, daughter of Vivian D. and William L. Holden of Dudley, recently returned from a routine, scheduled deployment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise while assigned to Sea Control Squadron 32, home based at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla.
Loftin was one of more than 6, 500 Sailors and Marines aboard the ships of the USS Enterprise Carrier Strike Group. USS Enterprise was the first U.S. aircraft carrier to deploy since the end of major military operations in Iraq. Loftin's squadron flies the S-3B Viking, a multi-purpose jet aircraft capable of long-range surveillance of shipping, air-to-air refueling, locating and destroying enemy submarines and other missions as required.
Loftin is a 2000 graduate of Southern Wayne High School.
John Hill
Marine Corps Pfc. John C. Hill, son of Angela R. Sides of LaGrange, recently reported for duty with Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Bliss, Texas.
Hill is a 2002 graduate of Midland Valley High School of Burnettown, S.C., and joined the Marine Corps in October 2002.
William Rains
William s. Rains, son of William R. and Ruby P. Rains of Goldsboro, has been promoted to master sergeant with the 916th Aerospace Medicine Flight, a unit of the 916th Air Refueling Wing, the Air Force Reserve tanker unit at Seymour Johnson A.F.B.
Sgt. Rains is a health services administration technician and self-inspection program manager with the 916th ADMF.
He is a 1971 graduate of Goldsboro High School and is co-owner of Benefit Consultants Group. He and his wife, Lois, have three children, Amanda, Jessica and Stephanie.
Bryce Kendall
Bryce C. Kendall, son of Roger J. and Becky D. Kendall of Goldsboro, has been promoted to senior airman in the 916th Civil Engineer Squadron, a unit of the 916th Air Refueling Wing, the Air Force Reserve tanker unit at Seymour Johnson A.F.B.
As a heating and air conditioning apprentice, Airman Kendall works on heating and air conditioning units on the base.
He is a 2002 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and is employed at the Seymour Johnson A.F.B. Commissary.
