Russo to perform
Hilary Russo of Goldsboro is in the ensemble of the North Carolina Theatre production of "My Fair Lady" at the BTI Center in Raleigh.
The production is each night through Sunday at 8:05. In addition, there will be a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be ordered by calling 1-919-831-6950.
This is Ms. Russo's debut with the N.C. Theatre.
In addition, the actress will appear in the "Deadly Medicine" episode on the Discovery Health Channel docudrama series "Diagnosis: Unknown" this evening at 9. She plays the role of a British nurse in an episode based on the story of a doctor who was discovered to be a serial killer.
A hero's gift
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross recently received an anonymous $1,000 donation for its Heroes Campaign.
Cindy Bell, director, said the donation was made in honor of those who worked during the recent ice storm. "She (the donor) wanted to honor the heroes who worked during the ice storm to keep the lights on and the roads cleared," she said.
"She said she was very, very thankful for these people and was sitting at home realizing how lucky she was. She said they were her 'heroes.'"
Mrs. Bell said she was shocked to receive the donation.
"I just want Progress Energy, the Department of Transportation and anyone else who worked during the ice storm to know that they are appreciated."
When to quit
The Small Business and Industry Center of Wayne Community College will offer the free seminar "Should I Quit My Day Job?"
The seminar will be on Feb. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. on campus.
This seminar, presented by Denise Ryan, helps people determine if they've got what it takes to own their own business. The session walks students through the decision-making process, starting with looking at what they want, then detailing what success will take, and finally telling them how to get started.

Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have Bloodmobile from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Wayne Community College.
Shorter break
Wayne Community College students will make up last week's canceled classes during the first three days that had been scheduled for spring break.
Curriculum, continuing education and basic skills day and evening classes will be held on March 1 and 2, and day classes only are scheduled for March 3. The exception is college's program at the education center on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, which is scheduling its makeup time separately.
