After only a little over a year in Goldsboro, Joi Flowers is leaving her post in the city manager's office and heading to Tennessee.
Ms. Flowers took the position of assistant to the city manager in November 2002, but is leaving to work at her alma mater, Memphis State University.
She will be in charge of Training and Development at the university.
City Manager Richard Slozak said the city would miss Ms. Flowers, and Mayor Al King said he didn't know what they would do without her.
"I always say, she's our secret weapon."
