Open house planned for N.C. State textile school

RALEIGH -- High school students, their parents, teachers and the public can learn more about the North Carolina State University College of Textiles when the college holds its annual Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Located on N.C. State's Centennial Campus, the college is the largest and most modern of its kind in the world. Tours of the college's state-of-the-art facilities will be offered, with demonstrations of apparel construction, digital printing, body scanning, knitting, weaving and yarn manufacturing, and the always-exciting "Pyro-Man," a high-tech research mannequin that endures searing heat and flames in the college's Comfort and Protection Lab.
Current College of Textiles students, faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions.
High school students who attend the "New World of Textiles" lecture will receive a free N.C. State T-shirt. The "New World of Textiles" presentations will be held in the Convocation Center at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Scholarship and career placement sessions take place in Room 2431 at 10:15, 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.
