Icy caution: Slow and steady is safe
By the time you read this, you will already know whether or not ice is going to be a problem on Wayne County's roads.
But just in case, here's a little reminder for those who will have to travel as the winter storm sweeps across the area.
Slow down.
And for those who still don't get it even after a thousand commercials and Oprah Winfrey's call for a pledge, put away those cell phones. No matter what you think, texting is distracting; it is dangerous; and it is irresponsible. There is no one who can drive a car and keep it in complete control when they are staring at a cell phone screen.
We know. We have followed you down the street while you are doing it.
Caution is the watchword today and every day. That is how you keep a mild winter weather event from becoming a tragedy.
