Danger zone: City's budget proposal will bear watching

Sure, where residents want to put stuff is important, so it is not surprising that so many people had so much to say about rezoning permits this week.

And we won't even get into the debacle that is becoming the Name Tommy's Road game.

But if you missed the little mention at the end of the article, do so at your own peril.

The city is asking for public comment on its proposed 2012-13 budget.

There are many reasons to be concerned, not the least of which is the developing concerns involving the loss of anticipated revenue from what looks like the failed involuntary annexation attempt.

And there are other reasons to keep a sharp eye peeled, too, and a hand on your wallet.

The city is facing some pretty expensive bills this year -- and the need to come up with some matching monies for several projects.

And, of course, there is the continuing push to turn the former Arts Council building into an Air Force museum. You can only imagine the money that will need to be spent on that -- even though it is still, allegedly, not a done deal.

So, watching the budget, reading about the proposals and then, commenting, would be in everyone's best interest.

After all, it is your money.
